The state of Texas charges $20 to process a death certificate application and provide your first copy. Any additional copy will cost $3. The rush service fee for Texas is $25. The standard processing time of a death certificate in Texas is 5-6 weeks and 3-5 business weeks for rush orders. In-person applications have the option of paying the fee in cash or by credit/debit card. Mail-in applications must be paid by check or money order addressed to “DSHS - Vital Statistics”.
