States health department processing time

Each State Health department has it own processing validation process. The identification documents and who is able to obtain the records will vary from state to state.

Each Health department requires a mandatory state fee to be paid by the applicant.

2.1 Identification process in Idaho

The Health Department of Idaho requires applicants, once they have completed and signed the application form, to prove their identity by including a photocopy of their ID.

Acceptable document of identification are:

Provide one (1) of the following identification documents:

  • Photo driver's license
  • State Id
  • Us/Foreign Passport
  • Concealed Handgun License
  • Offender Identification card
OR

Provide two (2) of the following identification documents:

  • Signed Social Security card
  • Employment Authorization Document (EAD)
  • School Identification Card
  • Medical/Medicare insurance card
  • Medical/car insurance card
  • Veterans Affairs card
  • Vehicle registration
  • Paycheck stub with imprinted information

Please note: If you can provide documentation of legal interest, or if you are holding a Power of Attorney from the person on record, you are eligible to request the vital record for that person.

2.3 How long will birth certificate delivery take?

It will take about 2 to 3 business weeks to get your certificate. The state needs ample time to process the number of inquiries they receive. Delays may vary depending on the volume being processed.

2.5 Exception and Date Limit?

Birth:

If the person on record is born before 1911 you will need to contact the Archive department in order to access to the original records.

Death:

If the death occurred before 1911 you will need to contact the Archive department in order to access to the original records.
