States health department processing time

Each State Health department has it own processing validation process. The identification documents and who is able to obtain the records will vary from state to state.

Each Health department requires a mandatory state fee to be paid by the applicant.

2.1 Identification process in Iowa

The Health Department of Iowa requires applicants, once they have completed the application form, to prove their identity by including a photocopy of their ID and notarizing the “application form”.This process is very common and used by many states. You will simply need to bring your ID to a public notary in order to have this document created.

Please note: If you can provide documentation of legal interest, or if you are holding a Power of Attorney from the person on record, you are eligible to request the vital record for that person.

It will take about 4 to 6 business weeks to get your certificate. The state needs ample time to process the number of inquiries they receive. Delays may vary depending on the volume being processed.

2.5 Exception and Date Limit?

Birth:

If the person on record is born before 1880 you will need to contact the Archive department in order to access to the original records.

Death:

If the death occurred before 1880 you will need to contact the Archive department in order to access to the original records.
