Identification process in New Jersey
The Health Department of requires applicants, once they have completed and signed the application form, to prove their identity by including a photocopy of their ID. Acceptable document of identification are:

If you can provide documentation of legal interest, or if you are holding a Power of Attorney from the person on record, you are eligible to request the vital record for that person.
How long will birth certificate delivery take?
It will take about 10 to 12 business weeks to get your certificate. The state needs ample time to process the number of inquiries they receive. Delays may vary depending on the volume being processed.

It will take about 4 to 8 business weeks to get your certificate. The state needs ample time to process the number of inquiries they receive. Delays may vary depending on the volume being processed.
