The state of North Carolina charges $24 to process a death certificate application and provide your first copy. Any additional copy will cost $15. 0The standard processing time of a death certificate in North Carolina is 13-15 months. In-person applications have the option of paying the fee in cash or by credit/debit card. Mail-in applications must be paid by check or money order addressed to “N.C Vital Records”.
